Fundraising
Gift Aid
This is a way for charities to increase the value of monetary gifts – in our case – subscriptions – from taxpayers by claiming back the basic rate tax paid by the donor. It can increase the value of donations by a quarter at no extra cost to the donor. Also HM Revenue and Customs will pay the charity an extra 3p to every pound. So when paying your subscriptions we would appreciate you ticking the appropriate box to enable the BLS to claim.
Caroline Badger Annual Clinical Research Award
The Fellowship was established in 2003 in recognition of the contribution of Dr Caroline Badger to lymphoedema and to the British Lymphology Society. For many years Caroline worked tirelessly to promote awareness of lymphoedema and was one of the founding members of the Lymphology Society. Caroline played a significant role in the development of clinical research and education in relation to lymphoedema and was an inspiration to all who knew her. In 2003 Caroline resigned as Chair of the British Lymphology Society and from her post as Consultant Lymphoedema Specialist, which was the first post of its kind in the UK, to enter a religious order. As a departing gift for Caroline the committee proposed to establish this award in Caroline’s honour, derived from donations from BLS members. The following document sets out the criteria and process for applications.
